ATVs can be difficult to learn to drive, and beginners often need quite a bit of practice to get the hang of their model’s controls. However, once you know the ins and outs of your vehicle’s basic maneuvers, you’ll have no trouble at all tackling the roughest and toughest terrain that nature has to throw at you! Practice Accelerating 

The first trick you’ll need to master to safely ride an ATV is acceleration. These impressive vehicles can reach top speeds in just a matter of seconds, so the last thing you want to do is slam your accelerator at full throttle. Instead, take things slowly. Learn how long it takes your machine to stop and start at different speeds, and be sure you can use both of your ATVs’ brakes without having to look down at your controls. Once you’ve got the hang of accelerating and braking, remember to practice shifting your model into different gears. This will come in handy in the future when you’re ready to tackle more difficult terrain. 

Practice Turning 

Learning to turn on an ATV can be tough. If you’re going too fast or turning too sharply, it’s very easy to flip your vehicle onto its side and end up hurting yourself. To begin, take things slowly and keep turns very wide. Practice leaning your body into the inside of the curve and—if your machine begins to lift on one side—lean forward as well as to the side and reduce your throttle. Remember to keep your feet safely on the foot pegs at all times, and avoid using them for stability as you turn. If your foot is caught by the tire, you could end up thrown from your ATV, and your leg could be seriously injured.
